Everything you need to use Remember Me · Updated August 18, 2026

Remember Me stores the everyday facts you can't afford to forget — where you left your keys, your parking spot, a Wi-Fi password — and gives them right back when you ask, by voice or text. This guide walks through every screen and feature.

1. Before you start

Remember Me runs on iPhone. To get the most out of it, have the following ready:

• An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
• An internet connection — needed to sign in and to compose recall answers. Saving memories and browsing them works offline.
• An email address, or a Google account, to register.
• Face ID or Touch ID (or a device passcode) set up on your iPhone, so the app can lock itself to you.

2. Creating your account

When you first open the app you'll see a welcome screen. Tap Get Started, then either create an account with email or continue with Google.

Sign up with email

1. On the sign-in screen, tap Create an account.
2. Enter your First name (required), Last name, and Email.
3. Choose a Password and re-enter it under Confirm Password. Tap the eye icon to show or hide what you type.
4. Tap Sign Up. If the two passwords don't match, or your first name is blank, the app will tell you so you can fix it.

Continue with Google

On the sign-in screen, tap Continue with Google and choose your Google account. This skips the separate email-verification step.

3. Verifying your email

If you signed up with email, Remember Me sends a verification link to your inbox before it lets you in. This confirms the account is yours.

1. Open your email and tap the verification link. It can take a few minutes to arrive — check your spam folder if you don't see it.
2. Return to the app and tap I've Verified My Email.
3. Didn't get it? Tap Resend Verification Email. To use a different account, tap Back to Sign In.

4. Unlocking with Face ID

Remember Me keeps your memories behind your device biometrics. Every time you open the app — and every time you return to it after switching away — it asks for Face ID or Touch ID (falling back to your device passcode). If a phone is lost or borrowed, your memories stay locked.

5. The chat screen

The heart of the app is a simple chat. You talk to your memory the way you'd text a friend. Across the top you'll find:

The first time you open the chat, you'll see a friendly greeting — "Hi! I'm your memory." — with a few tappable examples like "My keys are on the kitchen table" or "Where did I put my passport?" Tap one to drop it straight into the message box and see how it works.

6. Saving a memory

To store something, just state it as a fact in the Type a message… box and send it with the paper-plane button.

• "My passport is in the top drawer of the desk."
• "Parking spot is level 2, B12."
• "The Wi-Fi password is sunflower-42."

Remember Me decides on your device whether you're telling it something (store) or asking something (recall). When you save a fact, it confirms right away — something like "Got it — memory saved. You can recall it anytime." Because that decision happens on-device, the confirmation always matches what was actually stored.

7. Recalling a memory

When you need something back, ask a natural question and send it:

• "Where's my passport?"
• "What level did I park on?"
• "What's the Wi-Fi password?"

You'll briefly see "Thinking…" while the app finds the most relevant facts you've saved and composes a short, warm answer. You don't have to phrase questions exactly the way you saved them — asking about your "travel documents" can still surface the passport you filed away. Recall answers also tell you when you saved the fact, so you always have the context.

Ask your data — totals, counts & trends

Remember Me can do more than fetch a single fact — it can work things out across everything you've saved. As long as you've stored the individual facts (each with its amount or date), you can ask:

• Totals: "How much have I spent on my car this year?"
• Counts: "How many times have I been to the dentist?"
• Timelines: "When did I last replace the tyres?" or "What's the most recent thing I bought for the house?"

You'll get a clear headline (a total with its period, or the date) followed by an itemised breakdown — for example, "£1,190 so far this year: Tyres — £420, Service — £350, Battery — £420." It only ever uses the numbers and dates you actually saved, and never makes figures up. So the trick is simple: whenever you spend on something you might want to track, just tell Remember Me — "Paid £420 on car tyres today" — and the totals take care of themselves.

8. Using your voice

You can speak instead of type, and have answers read back to you.

• Dictate: Tap the microphone button and start talking. You'll see a "Listening…" indicator; tap the button again (now a stop icon) to finish. Your words appear in the message box, ready to send.
• Spoken replies: Recall answers can be read aloud automatically. To silence the current spoken reply, tap the speaker (mute) button.

The first time you use voice, iOS asks permission for the microphone and speech recognition — tap Allow. See the permissions reference if you need to change this later.

Voice settings

In the app's voice settings you can turn Read answers aloud on or off, and pick which voice is used for spoken replies (or leave it on "Automatic" for the best available). Want a richer voice? Download more under iOS Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices, then reopen the screen to choose one.

9. Adding photos

Some memories are easier to keep as pictures — a parking level sign, a serial-number label, where you left something. You can attach up to five photos to a memory.

• Tap the camera button to take a new photo (on devices with a camera), or the photo button to pick from your library.
• Selected photos appear as thumbnails above the message box. Tap the small ✕ on a thumbnail to remove it before sending.
• If you send a message that sounds visual, the app may ask "Add Photos?" — choose Yes to attach some, or No, send text only.

10. Editing & deleting a memory from chat

Made a typo, or something changed? Press and hold any of your messages in the chat to bring up a menu:

• Edit — opens an Edit Memory box. Change the text and tap Save; your update syncs to your saved memories.
• Delete — removes that memory.

11. The Memories screen

Tap the list icon at the top left of the chat to see everything you've stored, newest first. Each row shows the fact, its date (and an "edited" mark if you've changed it), and a thumbnail if it has a photo.

• Search: Use the search bar to filter by keyword.
• Open a memory: Tap any row to see the full text, any photos at full size, and when it was created or edited.
• Edit: In a memory's detail view, tap Edit, change the text, and tap Save.
• Add a reminder: Tap Add reminder to turn that memory into a reminder (defaults to tomorrow — adjust as needed).
• Delete: Swipe a row left, or open the memory and tap Delete Memory and confirm.

The whole app is already locked behind Face ID, so this screen doesn't ask you to authenticate again. Tap Done to return to the chat.

12. Reminders & events

Tap the bell icon to open Reminders. You can view them as a Calendar or a List using the toggle at the top.

Create a reminder

1. Tap the + button and choose New reminder (or tap a day in the calendar).
2. Enter a Title and, optionally, Notes.
3. Pick the Date & time of the event.
4. Under Notify me before, switch on any presets — 1 week, 1 day, 1 hour, or 15 minutes before.
5. Need a different lead time? Under Custom lead time, set a number (1–60) and a unit (minutes, hours, days, or weeks) and tap Add. Remove a custom entry with the minus button.
6. Tap Save. You'll get an iPhone notification at each lead time you chose.

The first time you save a reminder, iOS asks permission to send notifications — tap Allow, or you won't receive alerts.

Just type it in plain English

You don't have to fill in the form field by field. Type a reminder the way you'd say it and Remember Me works out the details for you — the date, the lead times, and whether it repeats:

• "Remind me to service the car every 6 months"
• "Put the bins out every Tuesday"
• "Dentist tomorrow at 5pm, remind me a day before"

Recurring reminders (daily, weekly, or monthly) keep coming back on schedule, so recurring chores and renewals only need setting up once.

13. Importing calendar events

You can pull events you already have on your iPhone — including Outlook / Exchange accounts you've added in iOS Settings — into Remember Me so they get reminders too.

1. In Reminders, tap + and choose Import iPhone & Outlook events.
2. Grant Calendar access when asked.
3. Upcoming events are imported and reminders are scheduled. Events that have no alarm of their own default to a reminder 1 hour before.

14. Scanning documents

Turn a piece of paper into memories in seconds. Photograph a passport, warranty, insurance letter, or bill, and Remember Me reads it, pulls out the key facts, and spots any expiry date — so you can find the details later and be reminded before they lapse.

1. From the chat, choose the scan a document option and photograph the document.
2. The app extracts a short summary and the important facts. Review and tweak anything that isn't quite right.
3. If it found an expiry date, flip on Add reminder and pick how far ahead to be nudged (e.g. 1 month before).
4. Tap Save — the facts become a memory you can recall like any other.

15. How memories are organised

You don't have to file anything yourself. Every memory is automatically tagged with a category — People, Home, Vehicle, Work, Learning & Ideas, Money & Purchases, Family & Life, Important / Life Admin, or Other — and a type such as Location, Password, Appointment, Expiry, Purchase, Contact, or Task. Every memory shows a category chip and the category filter works, so browsing and searching are much faster — and it all happens in the background with nothing to set up.

Categorisation comes in two levels. On the Free plan it uses a fast on-device classifier — completely offline, no cost, and enough for most everyday memories. Premium adds AI-powered categorisation, which is more accurate on the nuanced cases (for example, "passport is in the drawer" is filed under Important / Life Admin rather than Home).

16. Location reminders Premium

Some reminders make more sense tied to a place than a time. Just say where, in plain English — use the real name of the place you mean (your local supermarket, the pharmacy, the gym, a friend's address) — and Remember Me nudges you the moment you arrive at, or leave, that spot:

• Arrive: "Remind me to buy milk when I'm at the supermarket."
• Leave: "Remind me to post the parcel when I leave the office."
• Several things at once: list them in one message — "Remind me to buy milk, bread and bananas when I'm at the supermarket" — and you'll get a single reminder covering all of them. Add more later for the same place and they merge automatically.

Pin the exact spot on a map. Typing a shop name can land on the wrong branch, so the reminder editor has a "Choose on map" option: search a place, see suggestions near you, drop the pin on the right store, and drag the radius so it triggers as close (or as wide) as you like.

• Because these fire in the background, iOS asks for Location: Always permission — grant it so the reminder can reach you even when the app is closed.
• Location reminders are approximate by design (to save battery), so they may nudge you as you approach rather than at the exact door.

17. Hands-free: Siri, Shortcuts & widget

You don't always need to open the app to use it.

• Siri & Shortcuts: say "Hey Siri, remember that…" and your fact is saved straight to Remember Me — no need to open it. The same "Save a Memory" action works from the Shortcuts app and Spotlight search. This is available on every plan; on Free it simply counts toward your 100-memory limit like any other capture, then prompts you to upgrade (Premium is unlimited).
• Home & Lock Screen widget: available on every plan. Add the Remember Me widget for a glanceable view of your memory count and next reminder. For your privacy, the widget reads only a non-sensitive summary — never your actual memory text, no AI, and nothing from the cloud.

18. Encrypted cloud backup & restore Premium

Keep your memories safe across devices with a backup only you can unlock.

1. Open Backup & Security and set a passphrase. Your memories are encrypted on your device before anything is uploaded, so the server only ever stores unreadable ciphertext.
2. On a new device, sign in, open Backup & Security, and enter the same passphrase to restore everything.

19. Plans: Free vs Premium

Remember Me is free to use, with an optional Premium upgrade when you want more space and the most powerful features.

• Free: up to 100 memories, 15 AI recall questions/month, 3 document scans/month, plus all the core features.
• Premium — £2.99/month or £24.99/year (7-day free trial): unlimited memories, 300 AI questions/month, 50 document scans/month, AI-powered categorisation, encrypted cloud backup & sync, and location reminders.

The monthly allowances are gentle fair-use caps that reset each month, and nothing you've already saved is ever removed. Full details and a comparison table are on the pricing page.

20. Settings & your account

Appearance: Tap the half-circle icon in the chat header and choose System (follow your phone), Light, or Dark. Your choice is remembered.

Sign out: Tap Sign Out at the top right of the chat. Your saved memories remain safely stored for the next time you sign in.

Export your data

Your data is yours to take with you. Use Export to save all your memories and reminders to a plain JSON file you can keep, back up, or open elsewhere — no lock-in. The export includes each memory's text, category, type, and dates.

Delete your account

You can permanently delete your account and everything with it at any time from Account settings → Delete account. This removes your login, all memories and reminders, and any cloud backup — it can't be undone, so you'll be asked to confirm (and to re-enter your password if you signed in a while ago).

21. Permissions reference

Remember Me only asks for a permission when you first use the feature that needs it. You can review or change any of these anytime in the iOS Settings app under Remember Me, or under Privacy & Security.

22. Your privacy

Your memories are encrypted on your device with AES-GCM, using a key held in your device Keychain, and stored in the app's private storage. Only the facts you save are kept; your recall questions and the assistant's replies stay in the current session. When you ask a question, a bounded set of your most relevant recent facts is sent to the AI service to compose the answer. If you turn on cloud backup, your data is encrypted on your device with your passphrase before it's uploaded, so the server only ever holds unreadable ciphertext. 23. Troubleshooting

I didn't get my verification email

Wait a few minutes and check your spam or junk folder. Still nothing? Tap Resend Verification Email on the verification screen, and confirm your address is spelled correctly.

Voice / dictation isn't working

Make sure you're on a real iPhone (not the Simulator) and that Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed in Settings › Remember Me. Type your memory in the meantime.

I'm not getting reminder notifications

Check that Notifications are enabled for Remember Me in Settings › Notifications, and confirm you switched on at least one lead time when creating the reminder.

Calendar import isn't finding events

Turn on Calendar access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars. Import only pulls upcoming events, so past events won't appear.

Recall says it doesn't know something

Confirm the fact was actually saved (check the Memories screen). Recall needs an internet connection to compose answers — if you're offline, you can still browse your saved memories directly.

A recall answer looks wrong

AI answers can occasionally be off. Open the Memories screen to see the exact fact you saved, and edit it if it needs updating. Don't rely on recall alone for anything safety-critical.
